5 Tips to Ensure You Are On Track to Succeed in 2008

We have reached the close of the first quarter of 2008. This is an important time to review your annual goals and measure your first performance to make sure you are on track to achieve your goals. I hope the following five tips are helpful to you.

  1. Measure performance against industry standards. Because of the private nature of our industry, business owners only have their past performance to measure their company against. This can prevent us from seeing a clear picture of what is actually going on in our business. You may be missing opportunities to increase profitability because you are not looking in the right places. CTA can equip you with industry standards so you can refocus your energies on the greatest areas of opportunity.
  2. Assess and Adjust . Examine your activity in the first quarter. Are you sticking to your plan? If you are and the activity is not producing results, it may be time to adjust your focus. If something is telling you there must be an easier way to succeed, listen. Trial and error is rarely cost-effective. Consider seeking outside assistance to find a proven path of success.
  3. Communicating/reinforcing vision to employees . This is your business. You can not expect your employees to see your business they way you do. But the more you include your team in the effort to make your vision a realization, the more likely they will get on board and fight for you. Use this time to reinforce your company goals, communicate your passion and vision, and share your enthusiasm for achieving those goals with your team. It will be well worth your time.
  4. Assign ownership for delivering results. You can not do it all by yourself. Assign a single owner to a single task with an expected result, and regularly hold that owner accountable for delivering the expected result.
  5. Expect to Succeed. Confidence is contagious. If your team knows, without a doubt, you expect to achieve your goals (no matter how ambitious they may be), they will feed off your confidence, and it will be evident in their production.

If CTA can assist you in formulating goals for your company with a plan of action or help you take your business to another level, please submit the contact form below for a free initial consultation.
