Milestones
1973: Charles Tenney entered limousine industry in Dallas as partner of Carey Affiliate.
1975: Charles Tenney grows chauffeured transportation business to 50+ vehicle operation.
1976: Charles Tenney & Associates provides consulting services for first client in Dallas, Texas.
1985-1987: Charles Tenney serves 2 terms as National Limousine Association president. While in office, Charles created the full-time position of Executive Director of the NLA. This initiative brought nation-wide recognition and organization to our industry. Charles and his first NLA Executive Director hire, Wayne Smith, played a critical role in elevating the industry to where it is today.
1992: Charles Tenney & Associates creates the first Limousine 20 Group. A concept common in the rent-car industry, Tenney brought 20 top operators from around the country to share innovation and best-practices in a confidential, non-competitive format. This innovative idea allowed operators to experience a level of performance never achieved in chauffeured transportation.
1998: Charles Tenney plays pivotal role as industry expert and business broker in 1998 industry consolidation effort. This was the most dynamic period of business acquisitions in our industry's history. Carey, Precept, and Coach USA were primary players in the consolidation effort. Tenney, recognized for his specialized expertise and deal-structuring creativity, was hired to sell multiple businesses that changed the landscape of our entire industry. Many of Tenney's clients were able to sell to consolidators as either primary acquisitions or tuck-ins and retired.
2001-2003: Charles Tenney & Associates assists hundreds of chauffeured transportation business owners through the post 9/11 recovery effort and in the process saves countless businesses, marriages, and retirement funds.
2004: Charles Tenney & Associates releases first issue of the Fastlane. The Fastlane is a free e-publication with articles designed to provide practical insight to improving business performance and education on the topics of buying, selling and valuing chauffeured transportation businesses. The Fastlane was the first free publication of its kind and continues to deliver value to our industry on a monthly basis.
2005: Charles Tenney & Associates opens additional office in Nashville, TN.
2007: Charles Tenney & Associates sells 140th chauffeured transportation business.
Recognition
